My
Name is Bruce Taylor, I was born on the 10th January 1974
in Hanover Germany to English parents, my father being a member
of the British armed forces serving a tour of duty in Germany.
I lived in Germany until I was 4, when we moved back to the
UK. I spent a year in Tidworth, before my Father left the
army and the family moved to Bideford in North Devon. My sister
and I spent the rest of our childhood in Bideford, a small
rural market town near the coast. Our house stood on a hill
at the edge of the town over looking the town and river estuary.

I
attended the local school, Bideford Collage where I took and
passed 10 GCSE and 2 A levels, as well as studying for BTEC
Diplomas in Agriculture and Computing. I then moved to Bristol
in 1993 to study for a Degree in manufacturing systems engineering.
This being a broad based Engineering degree it gave me a good
all round knowledge of all aspects of Engineering, including
Mechanical, Electronic, Fluid and Computer Engineering.
After
the degree I started work for Stage Electrics, an entertainment
equipment rental company, where I specialised in digital computer
controlled lighting systems, during this time the digital
control systems became ever more complex and often had parts
or whole PC systems within them, this gave me plenty of practice
at rebuilding computers and installing software.
I
have always been interested in computers having talked
my father in to buying me an Amstrad computer at the age
of 12, and then a PC some years later. I always found
great joy in upgrading my own and friends computer systems
and always tried to make the systems run at the best possible
speed on a limited budget.
As
I learnt more about computer systems this led me to a
point that I wanted to expand my knowledge of computers
and networks. So in the April 2000 I joined The Business
Resource, a small IT support company in Bristol.

Being
a small dedicated team, giving good support and consultancy,
the company quickly took on more clients and expanded
the IT system, servers and networks of all it's clients.
Specializing in small companies with upto 50 users, enabled
TBR to focus on giving real support to the users, and
in effect becoming the in an house IT department for its
clients.
 While
gaining experience with servers and network systems, I continued
to work on and gain knowledge in personal computers, as well
as laptops and hand handheld computers.
To
gain further knowledge and further my experience I bought
an Apple Mac G4 with OS9 and OSX installed. While being
involved with IBM compatible PC's for a number of years
Mac's have always been fairly specialised and quite rare,
in companies with PC systems, it was therefore a great
opportunity to learn. Having worked with the Mac at home
for a number of years this has lead to me being able to
support clients with Mac systems both using OSX 10. |
